Phil Bradley over Wikipedia

“Theoretically, it's a lovely idea" says librarian and internet consultant Philip Bradley, "but practically, I wouldn't use it; and I'm not aware of a single librarian who would. The main problem is the lack of authority. With printed publications, the publishers have to ensure that their data is reliable, as their livelihood depends on it. But with something like this, all that goes out the window."

Bradley is inmiddels overtuigd: “I think it's a good move on the part of the EB - if it works properly, and at this early stage there's no point speculating - but I just wish that they could have been a teensy little more honest and said that the Wikipedia concept was a good one, which is why they are going in the same direction. We all know that's the case, so why bother to pretend?”
